The company was renamed to Fischer Panda GmbH on 1.1.2007 and founded in Paderborn under the name Icemaster GmbH in 1977. Since 1986 the company has developed extremely quiet generators for onboard power supply to boat and vehicles. When introduced, the generators were significantly smaller, lighter, more effective and quieter than competing products at that time on the market. This laid the foundation for the company to gain a leading position in this field.

In 1988, Fischer Panda GmbH attained the rights from Fischer Generators, located in Passau. This company co-operated with the internationally renowned BMW Marine Division. This gave rise to the new brand, "Fischer Panda". Fischer Panda is still, by far, the leading manufacturer of sound-insulated generators that produce an electrical power source for boat and vehicles.

The company has developed continually with a positive growth. The turnover was doubled within the last three years. The export sales of Panda generators almost reached 80% in 2006. An established chain of highly qualified distributors maintain worldwide presence with sales and services in over 60 countries. The distributors, for their part, supply recognised regional dealers, in order to guarantee the best possible customer service locally. The USA has the greatest turnover (almost 20%).

Since 1997, Fischer Panda Inc. is an independent franchise located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They manage distribution on the American continent. This includes Canada and South America, as well as 150 recognised dealers.

The heart of Fischer Panda GmbH is located in Paderborn. Here all decisions are made concerning product development, sales is organised, international logistics are arranged, customer services and production are organised, prototypes are built, constructed and the products are enhanced. The company´s own premises in Paderborn cover 22,000 square metres of land with buildings providing 7,000 square metres of buildings of which 800 square meters are offices.

An additional factory equipped with modern production equipement was built in Poland in 1992 to keep production costs low. This has over 4,000 square metre floor space and 13,000 square metres surrounding area. Over 200 well qualified tradesmen, engineers and technicians are employed at this factory fitted with modern machinery working exclusively for Fischer Panda.  More than 300 people are employed in the Fischer Panda Group (including the distributor franchises in USA and England) involved with the product which are sold worldwide under the name Fischer Panda.

The Formula One is just one of the large sporting events in Europe where more and more Fischer Panda generators are being used. Here, more than 100 generators are supplying onboard power to the event, transporter and maintainance vehicles used by the racing teams . Vehicles from McLaren-Mercedes, BMW-Williams, Jaguar, Jordan, Benneton, BAR-Honda, Minardi and Prost are fitted with generators and integrated electrical power supplies from Fischer Panda.

Almost all television broadcasting teams use transmission vehicles with generators from Paderborn. Fischer Panda has the largest circle of customers in this sector . There is scarcely a radio station in Europe, stretching from Lithuania to Turkey that does not possess its own Satellite-Transmission Vehicle with an installed Fischer Panda Generator. Generators have been separately produced for the military sector for some years. A number of projects have been developed and products supplied to this sector in the past years with great success. A separate distribution organisation, to be known as Fischer Panda Defense, is currently being formed, in order to ideally meet these business challenges.

Fischer Panda products have received great acclaim during the past years from renowned international magazines. Fischer Panda generators have achieved high results during the past years from numerous trade journals when compared and tested against other marine generators. Fischer Panda in Paderborn is especially proud that one of their products was awarded with the famous;"Pitman Award" in successive years (2000 and 2001) and it was quoted as "the most innovative product of the year" (for propulsion technology and supply of electrical power).

Fischer Panda also supplies DC generators in addition to the AC on-board power generators that are used as battery charging generators for electric vehicles.

Recently, extremely compact and efficient alternators in the performance range from 4 to 8 kW have been manufactured in addition to the generators. These machines are suitable for use in motor vehicles that fulfill special purposes.

Electric drives for propulsion use in the marine sector is also another new product from Fischer Panda currently be established. These permanent magnet electric motors are oil-cooled, extremely efficient and compact.
